The Poem to the Memory of Sergei Yesenin, written in 1956, is one of the most significant works by Georgy Sviridov. The composer himself told about its idea and content as follows: “In this work I wanted to recreate the appearance of the poet himself, the drama of his lyrics, her passionate love for life and that truly boundless love for the people that makes his poetry always exciting. It is these features of the work of a wonderful poet that are dear to me. And I wanted to say this in the language of music. “
