MOZART Requiem in D Minor for soloists, choir and symphony orchestra

St Petersburg Capella Choir and Symphony Orchestra Vladislav Chernushenko, conductor
Mozart’s Requiem is a work of incredible dramatic power. It lacks the traditional restraint of church music. Dying in poverty, Mozart put into his last composition all the experiences of the realization of his imminent death and all the horror of meeting the mysterious “black man” who ordered him a funeral mass. Work on the Requiem sometimes brought Mozart to complete exhaustion. Constanta, his wife, was even forced to take the score away from him. The work on the Requiem, after the death of the composer, was completed by his student Franz Xaver Süsmeier.
