Alexander Bykov

Was born in 1991 in Leningrad. He began studying oboe in 2001 at the St. Petersburg Lyceum of Arts in the class of M. L. Dymsky, then continued his education at the St. Petersburg College of Music. Rimsky-Korsakov in the class of I. S. Mikhailovskaya. In 2017, he graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Rimsky-Korsakov (class of A. A. Isaev), after which he continued his studies here as an assistant trainee (class of A. V. Kazakov).

Since 2019, he has been studying at the Graduate School of Music in Lucerne (Switzerland) in the oboe class (teacher – I. Podyomov) and symphonic conducting (teacher – K. Heil). He participated in master classes of such outstanding oboists as David Walter, Maurice Burg, François Lele, Heinz Holliger, Thomas Indermülle, Gregor Witt, Laszlo Hadadi, Alex Klein, Gordon Hunt and others.

Since 2013 Alexander Bykov has been a soloist with the St. Petersburg Capella Symphony Orchestra. He also appears as a guest oboist with such orchestras as Royal Concertgebouw Camerata, MusicAeterna, ZKR Academic Symphony Orcheater of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

Alexander Bykov is actively involved in concerts in Russia and abroad. He has appeared as a soloist in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and other European countries. In the course of his solo concert activities, he performed a number of world premieres of works for oboe, including Anzarokov’s Concert for Oboe and Orchestra at the Konzerthaus (Berlin) in 2018. In addition, Alexander constantly performs as an ensemble and orchestral musician on the stage of such halls, as Concertgebouw, Musikverein, Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater, Chapel of St. Petersburg, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, etc.
